Although he was an honorary guest at the Tennis Ball, it is possible that the Mayor (who claims to be only a beginner to tennis) will become a host of this manifestation in the near future (not only Mayor’s ball!) because he won a year’s membership for tennis club “Palić” for the year 2009 at the prize lottery which in a way commits him to picking up the tennis racket as soon as possible!
     
The ball was the reason for the guests to briefly put down their rackets and start this year’s tennis season as appropriate – at the table. Perhaps the tennis matches were not the main topic during dinner, but the spirit of 130 year old tradition of the “Palić 1878” tennis club was there. New times bring and establish new standards. But we do not forget the past. This is proven by the fact that last year the tennis club published a monograph which is a proof of the existence and work of generations which created the club’s rich history.
     
Looking both into the past and the future, the club’s management did its best to complete the project of tennis promotion among the young. In the last season, an international ITF tournament for seniors started its life, while on fifth anniversary of organization and with the help of all relevant social and sport actors Serbia got professional Woman’s tournament “Palić Open 2008” with prize money of USD 50,000!
